Main Dining Room
Of course, the heart of the restaurant is our main dining space. With doors that open on to our courtyard in the summer and provide plenty of natural light through the year we have 10 tables. For bookings up to 6 people this is most likely where you’ll find yourself – the space comes in to its own when the sun goes down and feels like no where else in the area.
Far and away our favourite table. A handcrafted slab of English Oak set in front of a beautifully upholstered banquette seat for 2 with a view straight in to the engine room, our main kitchen. You can watch the calm (or chaos) of the kitchen unfold right in front of you with the chefs close enough to join in the conversation if you wanted – you’ll see everything. This is no ordinary dinner either, the menu for your experience will be written bespoke for that service offering a tasting of everything we do with an optional drink pairing to match. The chefs will bring out their dishes personally and share with you not just what goes in to making them but why they’ve been made and how they found their way on to your menu.
Available Thursday, Friday Dinner and Saturday Lunch and Dinner.
Nowhere else in Colchester can you sit right on the edge of the kitchen and watch the action unfold right in front of you. We have four high level bar seats on our pastry section with the kitchen completely open to you. This is more than just having something to eat, this is a chance to watch the chefs work, ask them questions and in turn have them serve you dishes they’ve cooked to give you a real insight into what makes Kintsu tick.
Private Dining Room
On our first floor we have a private dining room that will comfortably seat up to 10 people. Making the most of some of the buildings original features with windows that look out towards the historic rooftops of North Hill it’s easy to forget you’re in the shadow of the NCP car park in the middle of Colchester. With our mezzanine lounge right next door it’s the perfect spot for a private party or celebration dinner all to yourself. Available to book by phone or email only.
Dining at Kintsu
Hidden in the heart of Colchester town centre in the shadow of a multi storey car park is the humble Grade II listed barn housing Kintsu. Ingredient led; flavour driven small plates is what we do and once you’ve stepped through our front door you could be anywhere in the world. Whether it’s a quiet table for 2, a private party for a celebration dinner or a one off dining experience unmatched in the area we have you covered. All our dining areas are available to book any day we are open unless specified otherwise. To make an enquiry about any of them please call the restaurant or email email@example.com
